Lumix S 20mm F/2.5

A 20 mm focal length is useful when the surroundings are an important part of the image. Landscapes and cityscapes can include a broad section of the scene, while architecture and interiors benefit from being able to fit more into the frame when space is limited.

The same perspective can also be used creatively for street photography and environmental portraits, where the subject can be shown together with the location around them. For video and handheld content creation, the wide field of view makes it easier to include both the person in front of the camera and the background.

At approximately 40.9 mm long and 142 g, the LUMIX S 20mm F2.5 adds very little bulk to a full-frame camera. It is particularly well matched to compact LUMIX S bodies and creates a portable setup for travelling, walking around a city or working handheld for longer periods.

The F2.5 maximum aperture provides additional flexibility when shooting in lower light and can create background blur when working close to the subject. A minimum focusing distance of 18 cm and maximum magnification of 0.15x also make it possible to create close-up compositions with an exaggerated wide-angle perspective.

The optical construction uses 11 elements in nine groups, including three aspherical elements and three ED elements. Panasonic has also incorporated focus breathing suppression to help keep focus transitions natural when recording video.

Autofocus is fast, precise and quiet, while an AF/MF switch provides direct access to focus mode. The focus ring can be customized, and the Lens Fn button can be assigned to functions such as Crop Zoom for quicker access while shooting.

The lens has a dust-, splash- and freeze-resistant construction for use in changing outdoor conditions. A fluorine coating on the front element helps make water droplets, dirt and fingerprints easier to remove.
